Yesterday we spent in an eerily empty but brand spanking new hospital in Zurich where Catherine was to have her neck operated upon. We got in at about 11AM, and it was 11PM by the time they were done working on the boines of her neck, reconnecting nerve fibers, and so on, and it was all a success, apparently. Timmy and Debbie and I spent the interim working on my film about the 60s, reading Jessica Mitford, and reading a book on little-known facts in Swiss history, which is a redundancy. Anyway, Catherine is recovering back in Zurich while the rest of us galavant around Basel, buying socks and looking at cathedrals. Who said you can't have fun in Switzerland?
